Rosanky is the definition of a rural Central Texas community in nearly every sense. Located on Farm Road 535 and eleven miles south of Bastrop in Bastrop County, Rosanky presents those looking to buy large tracts of real estate their perfect setting.
Named after Ed Rosanky whose family settled the area in 1854, Rosanky was initially only a loosely organized community with a small school and post office and a few churches. Not much has changed in Rosanky since those days as the community is still very small with a population of below 500 people. Rosanky has remained a small community throughout its history, occasionally adding a few general stores and other establishments before it became an oil-testing site during the 1920s. Today, Rosanky is largely a trading point for a variety of livestock and livestock-raising operations with access to a local convenience store, diner, gas station, and a western store for farming and ranching supplies. Residents usually travel to nearby Bastrop for other shopping and dining options. Residents who are not a part of the local farming and ranching businesses tend to commute to Bastrop, Smithville and even Austin for employment before returning to their homes.
